چکیده

To reveal the film formation mechanism of oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion, nanofilms of aqueous paraffin oil emulsion stabilized with the nonionic Tween 80 and Span 80 surfactants were measured in confinement between two solid surfaces, by the use of relative optical interference intensity (ROII) approach. In contrast to single-phase oil lubricant, the film formation of oil-in-water emulsions normally possesses a hill appearance. The critical speeds of film formation of O/W emulsions with various emulsifier and oil concentrations were focused to study the film formation mechanism of oil-in-water emulsion. Droplets can be observed to concentrate and be broken before the contact under a low speed, which induces an oily pool. The oil pool was indicated to act as the provider to the lubrication of the contact during rolling process. A theoretical model was proposed to describe the reemulsification effect, which established a relationship between the critical speed and the concentrations of either oil or emulsifiers.

Evaluation of the organophosphorus hydrolase enzyme activity in creams and investigation of its stability

The main purpose of this project is investigation of the organophosphorus hydrolase (OPH) enzyme activity in water in oil (w/o) and oil in water (o/w) creams and investigation of the OPH enzyme stability in formulated creams. OPH enzyme was extracted and purified from strain flavobacterium. The w/o and o/w creams were prepared using different formulations. In order to achieve an emulsion with m...

Effect of Dispersed Phase Volume Fraction on Physical Stability of Oil-in-Water Emulsion in The Presence of Gum Tragacanth

Background: The dispersed phase volume fraction plays key role in oil-in-water emulsion stability by different mechanisms like partial flocculation, depletion flocculation and bridging flocculation. Since the mentioned mechanism is affected by emulsifier concentration presented in system, the major aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dispersed phase volume fraction on physical st...

Pickering Emulsion Polymerization of Styrene-co-butyl Acrylate Nanoparticles by Using Cloisite Na+ as Surfactant

Cloisite Na+was used as a solid surfactant (stabilizer) in Pickering emulsion polymerization of styrene-co-butyl acrylate in presence of oil soluble initiator, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and water soluble initiator, potassium persulfate (KPS). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum approved the corporation of Cloisite Na+ layers within the polymer matrix. Effect of clay content was a...

Emulsion preparation using beta-cyclodextrin and its derivatives acting as an emulsifier.

The preparation and formation mechanism of n-hexadecane/water emulsions using natural beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and chemically modified beta-CDs (triacylated beta-cyclodextrins) as an emulsifier were investigated. The stable water/oil (W/O) emulsion was formed using tripropanoyl-beta-CD (TP-beta-CD). From observation using the contact angle (theta(ow)) of precipitates derived from CD, it was ...

Transdermal Delivery of Desmopressin Acetate from Water-in- Oil Nano/submicron Emulsion Systems

Desmopressin acetate is a potent synthetic peptide hormone. A more acceptable route of Desmopressin acetate is a potent synthetic peptide hormone. That is administered via parenteral, intranasal, and oral routes. A more acceptable route of administration with potentially good bioavailability could be offered by transdermal delivery. The present work reports on the development of water-in-oil (w...
